Andra Day and Andi Matichak
Cassandra Monique Batie known professionally as Andra Day is an American R&B and soul singer songwriter and actress. She has been awarded many awards, including one Grammy Award a Children's and Family Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award along with nomination for an Academy Award. Andra Day is an imposing singer and artful songwriter who isn't merely a throwback R&B expert. Her roots in gospel and blues displayed with ease and finesse translate to the present. Cheers to the Fall (2015) her debut album that was a huge success reached the Top Ten of the R&B/hip-hop and helped her earn some Grammy nominations as well the Academy Award nomination with Stand Up for Something (2017) her work on the soundtrack of Marshall getting both honors. Amen (2018) and the song Make Your Troubles go Away (2020) and Her Golden Globe winning portrayal of Billie Holiday (The United States in vs. Billie Holiday 2021) are all contributing to the anticipation of her next album. Andra has been born Cassandra Monique Batie on Edmonds Washington. Growing up in San Diego and surrounding areas she started singing at worship and was enrolled in The School of Creative and Performing Arts. After she graduated from the school, she was drawn to more contemporary R&B and pop, but she ultimately was drawn back to jazz classics and soul vocalists she was exposed to when she was young. A major break came in the form of a concert she gave was noticed by Kai Millard Morris who subsequently offered some of Day's songs to her husband Stevie Wonder. Motown legend Adrian Gurvitz was introduced to Day by the Motown legend. Allied with Gurvitz as well as Jeffrey Evans' Buskin label Day gained a large YouTube fan base and then signed with major-label Warner Bros. n 2012 Day made her debut track Forever Mine on YouTube. The track was soon discovered by DJs and began playing it on the radio. After signing with Warner Bros. Records, she started working with producer Adrian Gurvitz on her debut album "Cheers to fall" (2015). The album was a celebration of the song"Rise Up" which became an anthem to social justice movements around the world. Day was awarded two Grammys, one of which was Best R&B Album. The United States vs. Billie Holiday, a concept-album about the legendary jazz singer's existence, debuted in 2019. In the same year, she was a part of The United States Vs. Billie Holiday (2020), an autobiography of the career of Holiday. Andi Mattichak has a reputation as an American actor. Her first appearance was on television series such as 666 Park Avenue, Orange Is the New Black and Blue Bloods prior to making her feature film debut with Allyson Nelson in the slasher film series Halloween and the sequels.
